How do new items get onto the old puppylinux.org news page?

It seems like some dark form of magic. Every now and then something ends up on the old news page http://www.puppylinux.org/~whodo/home/latest-news
even though there's no intention on the part of the poster for it to be in the news. I looked today and somehow a question from a newbie is up there asking for help about a gxine problem. I can't get in there to make a comment or edit the item or add anything to the page at all - can anyone say how these extraneous entries are popping up there?

I deleted the unrelevant post but don't have enough admin access to remove the Add Latest News Item link....

Thanks Jrey,

It looks to me like the non-news items are ending up there from somewhere other than the "add latest item" link. I haven't got enough access either (or magical abilities) to track where they're coming from or disable access. I think Raffy's looking into it but I thought I'd ask around for any insights.

I think that there's a problem with new puplet announcements ending up there instead of on the puplets http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/puplets page.

The current big system is getting too complicated for its own good. At times the review posts get into the primary menus - it cant be worse than that. :(

More people should move content to the news and wikka sites.

True, but if it takes a little ironing out it's not too high a price to pay for having such a varied and informal community. One of the great things about puppy is the relative power held by the everyday contributors.

Can't the old or wrong pages be redirected? On the old news page we've had announcements sitting there explaining about the new page, which would be fine except these left-of field items keep getting put there without even the intention of the person doing it. Do we know how that's happening???
Do I have permissions to get into the system???
Is there a tutorial on how I can do it???

I'd be interested to know how many views the old news page gets and maybe if it can't be made to behave we could just leave it to do its thing if hardly anyone goes there...
