Why not a later version of Rox?

I notice that puppy is using an older version of Rox filer, is there a reason for not using the latest? Size and speed maybe?

Yeah, there's some discussion of this on the old forum.
GuestToo tried later versions.
It was a size problem. Later versions do have more features, also GTK2 so have nice font antialising. But, we stayed with the old Rox... does the job.
Faster too, as only GTK1.
