opera-developer_31.0.1587_i386.sfs

#1 Post by Wognath »

Sfs's of Chrome-based Opera have been available for Fatdog for a while, for example here. As far as I know, only one 32-bit version has been released. I haven't seen it available for Puppy, so here is an sfs of it:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-QO6A ... sp=sharing
size 64M
md5sum e0fc49ecd3c7ade86e25ddfe84b21910 opera-dev_31.0.1857_i386.sfs

Contents:
-opera-developer-31.0.1857_i386
-/usr/bin/opera-developer a script to run as spot
-libgconf-2.so.4.1.5 + link
-opera-sandbox owned by root and permissions mode 4755
-/usr/lib/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
Tested in Slacko 5.7 and Tahr

See Opera/About Opera for info on location of cache and config folders

Edit: new link to sfs that works also in Tahr
Edit: new sfs includes pepper flash (enable/disable from opera://plugins)

Yep, runs fine aboard 5.7. But like my recent pkgs, yours also lacks a menu icon.

Not a biggie for me, not by a longshot. I would however like to know what the holdup is..

Nevermind.. For your build all I needed was a quick X restart.

59MB. Nice and small? I guess Puppy continues to get fat...

pet of pepperflash

Edit: latest sfs includes pepperflash since it's already fat ;)
Can be disabled and enabled from opera://plugins
I swiped libpepflashplayer.so from one of peebee's Chromium+pepper flash pets--I hope that's ok :? It's located in /usr/lib/PepperFlash/, one of the places Opera looks for it.

:D Well you either take it from him or Chrome itself.. No matter.

Now available, opera-developer-32.0.1933.0-i386
I took a quick look and it was working in Precise and Wheezy. Not sure about the automatic updater though.

Oscar Talks, thanks for that info, but I'm having a hard time finding it. Could you post a link?

If anyone is interested in making an sfs of the newer version for Slacko, this might save you some time, or spoil the fun. In the usr folder extracted from the deb:
in usr/lib add libgconf-2.so.4.1.5 from debian.org plus a link to it called libgconf-2.so.4
in usr/lib make directory PepperFlash and stick libpepflashplayer.so there
Apply chown root:root and chmod 4755 to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/opera-developer/opera_sandbox
To execute, run-as-spot /usr/lib/opera-developer/opera-developer

EDIT: As dalderton says below, opera-dev works out of the box in Tahr. Just download and install the deb from Opera using Oscar's link. By default it runs as root, but run-as-spot opera-developer also works.

Hello Wognath,
I found it via this page:-
http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/04/ ... -bit-linux
The download link for opera-developer>linux is at the bottom of the list on the right-hand side. If I copy that link it looks like this:-

Interesting thing,I just downloaded the Developer 32.0 Deb and installed it and it updated the 31 SFS that I installed yesterday from this thread and it updated 31 and seems to work fine. All Good Regards Dennis.
