Taskbar Woes

#196 Post by HeathenKaer »

First, I must say, this is a gorgeous puppy. Wow!

I have two teensy-tiny problems, both related to the same issue.

1) In JWM, I cannot move the tray to the top.
I get this error:
Change Reversed
New config corrupt. Keeping original

2) I have installed IceWM (which I was using in 4.21 and completely love), but I can't seem to figure out how to begin using it (as in, it isn't in the shutdown options where I expect it to be, and I don't know how to get it there).

Now, what I really want is IceWM, because it is familiar, but I would be happy enough with just moving the tray to the top until 5.0 comes out.

If anyone can tell me either how to fix it, that it can't be fixed, or that I'm simply doing it wrong, I'd be so grateful.

Thanks,

Kaereste the Noub

rjbrewer;

Are you referring to the "kernel panic" that I got after installing the remaster?

Guess that means it doesn't boot. :)

No; what I get is "error 2 incorrect file or directory".

I haven't tried it with frugal install yet, will do later.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs

My bad......it boots.Posting from it now. :)

Someone (not using any names) edited menu lst wrong. Gets a bit confusing,,,sda or hda ........picked the incorrect one.I did wipe the partition and reinstall but only thing I changed is the menu lst.

Didn't do much of a remaster, only added FF 3.5 and used the small iso........ended up at 107 mb.

May be some type of bug in a particular iso.......we have the original 110 mb file, the reuploaded 105 mb file and the small 96 mb file which I used.

I mentioned my problem in the bugs thread.

Haven't tried it with Ttuuxxxs' version yet.

When I remastered I deleted all the abiword files, all the
seamonkey files, then installed seamonkey 1.1.15 v-1.

This worked fine on puppy 4.1.1 and 4.1.2.
Also works on 430 with 2.6.21.7 kernel.
Only the 2.6.30.5 kernel won't work.
Have tried 3 different 430 versions so far.

Used the grub syntax from the 430 update instructions.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs

gxine browser plugin?

#205 Post by murmelbahn »

In Puppies 4.2 (ttuuxxx no bling version of 4.2) we had the
gxine browser plugin installed for Seamonkey.
Did work well, even if the occasional crash would occur.

Came to think that it be a welcome addition to 4.31 + FF

For testing, I use http://www.sr.se
'LYSSNA PA WEBRADIO' in top left corner, select Real or Windows
audio format then wait what's happening ...

Cheers,

JR

Edit: Ahem, don't know what I did differently from before
but NOW it works. Maybe it was posting that helped?
Anyway, please ignore this post. Things are already perfect.

Updated to 3.5.3 here too. Would be nice to start a Puppies 4.3 tips and tricks thread (strictly no bugs). Will probably start one soon with 'turning firefox into a podcast client' :)

Edited because I fixed it.

Not exactly sure how I fixed it, but thankful to have done so. Involved a lot of reboots, changing IceWM pref file, and many, many more reboots.

Works now.

Thanks for your assistance.
