Seamonkey-2 RC1 Subject description: no dependencies should be needed |
|
Ok then,
I compiled Seamonkey-2.0 rc1 from source.
Here it is
From Pet Store http://www.petstore.puppyspace.org/s4/internet/Seamonkey-2-rc1-i486.pet
Or http://www.filefactory.com/file/a0gg8e8/n/Seamonkey-2-rc1-i486_pet 14.09M (sorry about the add supported stuff, but nothing is for free!
Once at the download page, go to the bottom, click the download
link, then wait 25 seconds then your download should start )
The Old Seamonkey-2b2 mirror from ttuuxxx http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/micko/Seamonkey-2b2.pet (usr=puppy, pswd=linux)
md5sum 74d4fa67efe23880c9ee7a4d3814543c Seamonkey-2-rc1-i486.pet
Here are the configure options I used,
| Code: | | # ./configure --localstatedir=/var --prefix=/usr --host=i486-t2-linux-gnu --build=i486 --with-x --with-system-jpeg=/usr/lib --with-pthreads --enable-application=suite --disable-gnomevfs --disable-gnomeui --disable-dbus --enable-accessibility --disable-installer --disable-updater --disable-parental-controls --disable-vista-sdk-requirements --enable-strip --enable-install-strip --with-libIDL-prefix=/usr/include/libIDL-2.0 --disable-glibtest --with-glib-prefix=/usr/include/glib-2.0 --enable-system-cairo --with-distribution-id=com.puppylinux --disable-logging |
The pet installs a menu entry under Internet>>Seamonkey, If you have a desktop shortcut pointing to a stock Seamonkey this will take over however you stock seamonkey is left intact. (/usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1x)

01micko:
Downloaded and posting with SeaMonkey 2.0 Beta 2. From just a brief run everything is working as expected.Seems faster than older SeaMonkey.
Great job.
Lobster:
Site works in Linux, I d/l with 4.30.
Scroll to bottom of page, wait a few seconds, click "Download with file factory basic", wait a little more, click the download button again and it will finally download.
Is a bit of a pain though......

The restore feature in this SeaMonkey is a good thing, because SeaMonkey (all versions) crashes constantly in Puppy 4.3. (When downloading this URL for instance.) I think this is supposed to be because there is a library that needs updating, but I can't find the post that said which lib that is, or where to get it.

Interesting Flash, but I am not getting that crash with your link in this version of Seamonkey, running 430 k 2.6.30.5 frugal.

Installs and works fine in Ttuuxxx's 2.14 X 12. Installer shows missing libs but works without them. Posting with it now.
Flash:
No crash on that link either on above install.

Totally great to see a proper feed reader built into the mail element. Great for people like me who enjoy podcasts. I also like the way I can set the speed the page scrolls with the mousewheel. Firefox seems to lack that option.

Is it still ugly Dave? I like the new default theme and I like the modern one too. Kinda glad I left it in . Not trying to convert you to Seamonkey or anything
I wasn't crapping on when I said it is every bit as good as FF 3.5x.
Cheers

Interesting question: I am much happier with it now, default theme, because I found an option in the menus to use small icons, and to turn off text under icons. This makes the page space available much bigger. I see there is also an option to use system defaults, presumably for menu fonts etc, but I ran out of time to play with it yesterday.
It might be interesting to start a thread listing new features that are simply not present in 1.** series.
