deciaccio- I had to google 'em4057' to find out the brand is Eminent, and that it's a pci card. And, stating what chipset your card 'probably' has just muddies the waters and sends others down the wrong path.

A web search for your card only turned up one page with specs, stating it has a Realtek 8185 chipset. That being the case, an Atheros driver would be useless to you. That's why it's so important to provide as much information as possible, including the full name and version of your wireless device.

To solve your problem, check out this post from Tempestuous:

Sorry,I don't know so well english anyway i understood that my statement could create misunderstanding.....
.I thought that "em"was enough to understand it was eminent brand and.....i read on file net5211.inf that he had to install atheros..etc...anyway sorry and thanks.
I'll try with your linked post suggestions :I'll be more careful next time...even if i hope to answer and solve rather than asking ....
have a good time

I live in the U.S. and the Eminent brand is unknown to me. In fact, I've never heard of it.

As I was writing this post, I did another search on your card and found information that conflicts with what I found earlier.

The new information I found agrees with your assessment that the card has an Atheros chipset. (http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_part ... me=Eminent) With the Atheros chipset, you need to use a Madwifi driver. Since you're using Pupyy 4.3, try loading the ath5k driver. Hopefully, that will work for you. In this post (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 418#339418) rjbrewer says you may need to make several runs through the wireless connection wizard to get the ath5k driver to work.

I'm sorry for the confusion that I created. Please come back and let us know whether you get your card working.

Thks but it does not work.I explain, tryng to be clear. In puppy 4.3 ,modules ath5kand ath9k (atheros divers) appear in connection wizard when i click on "load modules": I've loaded first ath5k,loaded suuccesfully but it does not detect any new interface i've tried several times ..then with ath9k too.
I'v tried with modprobe and then rebooted ...card not detected first ath5k then ath9k nothing.
I've installed madwifi pet package from puppy repository to use ath_pci or Ath_hal: modules appear on ls command or with file-browser ma at "modprobe ath_pci "and "modprobe ath_hal"answer is "Module ath_pci not found " Module ath_hal not found".I've created new folders in the same directory of other modules ..for istance Ath5k..etc/lib/modules/..and so on and i copied into them modules...but nothing to do module not found..and does not appear of course in connection wizard at "load modules".
I've downloaded madwifi last release from link you suggested but at "make" answer is "command not found"..maybe there is not a CC compiler..if so how to get it?. I've not understood what is explained on official site about devx430.sfs.....!?
Thks...maybe too much explainations now..
