I am trying to compile xmms modplug plugin so i can play modfiles in puppylinux

i have downloaded user_devx.sfs, and first placed it in /mnt/home (live puppy)

if i try to run ./configure on xmmsmodplug

it says "configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH"

i have also tried placing the compiler in /, but it disapears each time puppyreboots

can anyone help me with this? is it asking me to place the compiler in the current directory??

thankyou

Have you read the instructions on Barry's main site about setting up the compiler.

http://www.goosee.com/puppy/news2005a.htm

You need to put usr_devx.sfs in the same partition as pup002.

thanks for your reply, i had actually fixed the problem by ugrading to puppy 1.06 (was on 04 before)

However, i am still having issues compiling modplug for xmms.

I tried version 2.05 from http://modplug-xmms.sourceforge.net/, the error was the compiler say it could not find the XMMS_config (PREFIX).

(this was frm the xmms dotpup).

I went and got an original source of xmms 1.10, and compiled that, this fixed the xmms_config error. Then instead, it was saying it could not find libmodplug (PREFIX). I solved this by downloading an earlier version of xmmsmodplug (2.0)

now i am just getting install 'recursive errors'

Is there anyone who can help me out with this??

surely there are others who listen to mod files with puppy. (for those of you who dont know, mod is the name for a format/scene of 'tracked' music publication, stemming from the days of the mighty amiga. Plenty of great music around and its free!)

Thanks

happy mas:)

Download (820 kb, 2.3 MB extracted):
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Multimedia/xm ... lugins.pup

Plays SID, mod, midi....

I took binaries from Mandrake 9.2.

Tried it with an .s3m -file, works here.
Does it work for others, too?
