Very Happy Smile Laughing Cool

Hi folks !

More and more non-geek friends are starting to use Skype this year, so it would make great sense to have it installed out of the box in the next release of Puppy.

On the same subject, in order to use Skype, one needs sound, so please fix Puppy so integrated sound card from Via and Sis function.

Thanks to you all !!!

Skype is a big program (adds ~10 MB to Puppy) which is why it's not included with the base Puppy download. It is very easy to install, just download the (10.4 MB) file from the Skype download site, unzip it to anywhere in Puppy, click on the 'Skype' folder and then click on the 'Skype' gear icon to start Skype.

As for sound, you can install ALSA from jcoder24's experimental dotpup (see the Howto forum for the thread.) I've tried it and it works, but you have to figure out how to remove OSS from your Puppy first. Jcoder24 is working on adding automatic removal of OSS to the ALSA dotpup package.

Thanks for the advice, I will try all that... Must admit being lazy, so used to stuff that just work... But I enjoy Puppy to the point of doing the necessary homework !

If we are extra good
and especially nice . . .

Barry is thinking of incorporating ALSA (better sound support) in 1.0.8

HAPPY NEW YEAR! - oops am I too early again. Happy Christmas.
