Security issue?

#1 Post by 8-bit »

I have a file in the /tmp directory, xerrs.log that seems to be changing after I boot from an ASCI text type file to a DATA type file.
If I try to save it outside of the temp directory, it gets changed back to an ASCI text file type, but without it's original contents.
So is this a case of tampering with a file in /tmp to try to make an executable, autoinstall of something?
The file in question has changed a number of times and though a reboot temporarily shows the normal stuff one would see and the file type is shown as ASCI text, the file type changes at some point to DATA.
Since Puppy deletes all files in the /tmp directory on a reboot, and the file initially seems to be shown as an ASCI text file and later changes file type, it has me wondering.
Also, it will eventually change back to an ASCI text file type without the original contents.
The only line in it afterword says "extension tar.z ignored"
