Thousands of web sites compromised, redirect to scareware

Perhaps this is why forum users were getting scareware popups when they accessed the forum from Windows. I couldn't find that thread, so I put this here.

Makes sense. I wonder if I read this right:

Does this mean that it's down to Google and it's only coincidental that people are affected when they travel from Google on to a Puppy site?

It only happened to me once, but that was when I went to this site. Not through Google though, so maybe it was a different thing.
