Shutdown is hanging with Puppy 1.0.6

#1 Post by capellan2000 »

Hi all,

When i try to shutdown Puppy 1.0.6
my IBM Thinkpad hangs or at least
seems so. i know that Puppy had to
unmount all the devices mounted and
shut down processes and any other
program that i could had opened.

How could i get a text promt of
all the operations that Puppy is
doing while shutdown?

i'm running Puppy by booting
from DOS, using linld.com
with commands published
in this forum.

The four files needed are in
the root of C: a FAT32 partition
shared with Windows 98.

Thanks in advance.

you can exit X with "CTRL-ALT-backspace", then type:
halt
or
reboot

Hi Mark,

if i use CTRL-ALT-backspace
will i see all the commands
that Puppy uses to shutdown?

To try this by myself i had to
reboot to DOS, because i'm
posting this message
from Windows now.

Thanks again for your help!

yes, you will see all the messages puppy creates.
You normally also should see them when shutting down from X,if you don't, there might be a problem with your Xserver.

Hi Mark,

i noticed that if i do not activate
my 3Com ethernet pcmcia card,
then Puppy shutdowns very fast,
but i do not see any message.

if this ethernet pcmcia card is
activated, the shutdown process
hangs forever and never finish.

Anyway, i'm not seeing any messages
after shutting down.

How could i see these messages
after i choose "Shutdown" from
Logout menu?

Thanks again for your help! :-)
