Hi
dejan555, nice link, but i think using the script is easier.
stu90, i don't think a tutorial is really necessary for this.
There is a link to the script i use in this post
as it say's in that post, i use it in GIMP 2.4.6 and do not know if it works with other versions.
It is very simple to use, as you can see in the attached image.
Just have a play about with it, and see how it works.

Works with 2.6.8 edges had to be made transparent though or else it makes glassy effect around entire shape I played a bit with it. I knew there was script somewhere but didn't know where you posted it exactly

Simply a few very minor modifications of the straight b&w quirky puppylogo96.png (nothing fancy at all, just a bit 'conservative' dog of the same breed)
embed'd . . . . . . and attached.
Maybe it's finally time to clean up my pink-tongued 'menu' q-dog now that jwm is all good icon-wise - fwiw, I have a heckuva time getting alpha and fuzzy borders right too

postfs1,
Ha ha, yes, that pooch does look a bit wary... that would make a nice logo for Wary!

paulhomebus,
That is a lovely "fun" doggy that you have created!
I'm still looking for a logo for Wary, which is a retro Puppy designed for older hardware. See my blog posts:
http://bkhome.org/blog/ <-- type "wary" into the search box.
I was thinking of a somewhat worried looking dog, but your fun-dog looks so nice...

Thanks BarryK,
I really wouldn't think it would 'fit the bill' for your next Wary Puppy, but the logo is the communities to do what they like with.
PS. I'm glad you like it though!
Paul
