Javascript is a pretty nice language, with some addons it could give shell scripting languages a run for their money. It wouldn't surprise me if javascript was the best optimized scripting language in the world either. So why isn't javascript used in areas outside of the internet?

Many would argue it should be shorter But not me.

Do you think puppy should have more stuff coded in javascript?

I had great hope for Java when it first came out, it`s simple and and I learned it quickly.
But after that I realized the long learning curve to become familiar with all of the libraries.

There are better and more suitable languages.
Javascript was designed for the net. When it came out, javascript was so buggy that browsers had to be partially rewritten to accommodate this language. Javascript in a web page could crash your browser. Javascript was popular because it could be added to HTML. The java language (not the same thing) is far more robust but needs a huge run time plug in, which not all browsers support. Seamonkey supports javascript as configured in Puppy but needs a plug in for java applets and programs.

Javascript can also be used to compromise your browser. Some people turn it off with program plug ins such as No-script.

Later javascript became the language of choice for the Cloud generation (still to arrive in force) which is designed to complete the process of renting your computer software out to you.

Javascript is a vastly improved language.

Just like we have better and more suitable languages for language conversion but we have a basic to C converter written in bash?
