Hello, I'm trying to get into Puppy but my laptop runs hot and the fan races when using Puppy 1.05 (Averatec 6100 series). Is there a package available that keeps the heat down by throttling back the CPU when not needed? Cheers, Atchbo |

It is possible that ACPI is not active on your machine when using Puppy. ACPI is the "modern" mechanism for controlling temperature, fan etc. on notebooks. Look at this thread. If you do not want to follow the whole discussion in the thread, you could just look at the post on 16th December. Hope this helps |

I read the thread and will try once I've installed the new version... shouldn't be too hard. Has this been added to the 1.07 release? Seems like a simple thing that wouild affect a large proportion of laptop users. Best, Atchbo |
