Add an ad-blocking list to the /etc/hosts file

I'm on a slow dial-up line and since Mozilla doesn't have ad-blocking, I like to make best use of my limited bandwidth by keeping ads (and their images) from ever venturing down my pipe.

The easiest way to do this is to add an ad-blocking list to the /etc/hosts file.

I've been using the one here: http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html

I just open /etc/hosts in a text editor and copy and paste the blocking lines to the end of the hosts file.

Works like a charm with Linux, MacOSX, and WinXP.

easy

We had a discussion a while back about this.

This link provided is kept up-to-date more than any other.
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Download the zip file unzip it then rename the file HOSTS to hosts and replace it with the one in /etc/

Good Luck.
