Here is an apps.sfs by scsijon that he is working on for his up comming Puppy58 project.
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppy58
It contains most / all of the applications that have been removed from lucid lite plus there are some more applications scsijon has included in there as well - for the full application list see scsijon post on page 2 of this thread.
While not built specifically for lucid lite i find with a small edit to the .sfs name: Right mouse button click on the .sfs rename from apps_529.sfs to apps.sfs and you should be able to load with 'sfs on the fly' (link for sfs on the fly is above)
apps_529.sfs download 99mb

Cool I love such experiments :)

Lupu 525 failed to boot for me while luci 257 booted all teh time I tested it at least 3 times in a row.

So will be interesting to see if this one boots on first and second and third too :)
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Thanks Lobster 8)

Yes that is what i intended and use it for - start as a base then just add what ever applications you want / need - all the Lucid Puppy applications should be compatible so easy to install as well as update to the latest versions.

I notice there is now a tool ( Menu > Setup > Remove built in packages) included with Lucid 525 that enables one to remove built applications, so lots of options for building custom puppies. :)

Hi Nooby,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with Lucid 525 - other than the applications removed and a few small additions there is really not much different between this and lucid 525 - all the set up etc are the same, its just a lighter version is all.

The booting here is totally unpredictable so that is why I think it has to do with IRQ and not the nosmp but the nosmp maybe change something else that do relate to irg priority.

Both the full 525 and your lite booted this time I downloaded both and did everything totally fresh with both and they behaved equally. Both booted on first try.

But I did not install anything on yours.

The diff on yours are that it was less color on the desktop. :)

I such a lazy guy. What should I chose so many choices to make.

Anyway thanks for providing it. Very good to have when one want to try the load sfs on the fly something and similar approaches.

Hi Stu90:
Thanks for the lite Lupu 5.25!
This is what I have been desiring all along. My only other wish is that i could be able to add a suspend function for my laptop. this is important since laptops are running mostly on battery and suspending while idle will save battery power. I am using snow puppy an excellent set up by pemasu. It has the suspend function and works perfect on my laptop. However, I still would like a lite version, because of limited resources.
Is it possible to add this? How?
Thanks again!

Thank!
I tried this without success. Also I had difficulties to install my favorite packages, because of dependencies. Therefore, I decided to install full 525 and go in reverse direction by removing unwanted packages. This seems to be working fine so far. I will stick with this one.

Hi marco07,
Which packages were you having trouble with?
when using the built in removal tool dont forget to do a re master after to fully remove the applications you no longer want or they will be still there just hidden from view.

Hi majorfoo.
Could you try opening a terminal window and typing in this command then try gparted:

ln -s /usr/bin/gpartedbin /usr/sbin/gpartedbin

cheers.

Yes Nooby as i understand it that is correct - when you edit the .sfs file what you remove is gone for good.

Stu your lite version must be ideal to use for the SFS-Exec approach that Seaside write a thread about.

I want to test that say in 6 hours from now and tell the result in his threads but using your 525 lite as the puppy for it.

May I inspire you to maybe do it too?

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=64587

Just a friendly suggestion.

Lucid 525 - lite

#15 Post by majorfoo »

on my remaster of 525 lite i have couple of concerns

on bootup i get the following message

warning
x seems to have exited uncleanly the last time you ran puppy. this is usually because of an improper shutdown (such as a power failure), but
may be because something is broken
if it was just something like a power failure, wait for 30 seconds or choose (ignore) for normal startup of x
if there is a problem such as x not working, choose (command line) to drop out to a command line. there will then be further advise how to fix
if undecided, wait 30 seconds for normal startup of x

second concern is The Personalize Settings screens appear.

How do i get rid of these two items

Are you running this on the same computer you set it up and made the remaster on - are the results the same when using the official lucid 525?

From what i recall of the built in puppy remaster tool it requires some manual tweaking and copying of directories during the remastering.

If you search the forum there are a fair few topics about remastering as well as updated versions of the remaster application - i don't know how relevant it is to the new lucid 525 bust there is a there is also a section near the bottom of the Lucid News site about remastering.

majorfoo,
I presume you are doing the remaster for lucid lite with a save file?
During the remaster when you are given the option to edit the /root and /etc directories in /tmp have you tried deleting them and copying the /root and /etc directories from the lucid lite you are running.

Edit there is also other remaster applications like remasterpup2:
