Can't install creative labs CT4750

#1 Post by socrates »

I have this PCI card and Im trying to install it.
After I run alsa setup, I choose the card driver (I'm sure is the correct one) and everything is ok until it tries to play a sound (last step in alsa setup) it says some errors and closes and when I try to open alsamixer it closes instantly.

What I'm doing wrong?

alsamixer in a terminal:
"alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default : no such device"
I also have a crystal audio on board audio.

Is the on-board sound turned off in BIOS, because a SoundBlaster PCI128(ct4750) is supported by Puppy.
