We need mirrors and bit torrents as quick as possible
Downloading now and it is very slow
Have updated Wiki front page. Please post torrents and mirrors as soon as you have them . . .

Thanks Barry. Thanks Everyone. Happy New Year. Bones and treats all around . . .
Initial feedback: NICE!
ran xorg again (was using 107 Beta and this is recommended - no problems there - even remembered to press space to select my resolution)
ran the new firewall wizard - stealths everything - luvvly - faultless . . .
control Panel - xdiskusage - icon missing - does not seem to do anything - could be a beta conflict? Does it work for others?
lock (screen save lock can still be exited with any command - (couple of esc and I was out - how are others finding this? (I like it - do not need it but will be good when working)
Where is Gdmap?
"Morizot Firewall" (in the menu) should be changed to "Linux Firewall"
New OpenGl and Mesa as Pupget for our Gamers . . .
OK back to playing . . .

This is no .gz, simply rename to xdiskusage, and make executable (chmod 755 xdiskusage).

My first take on 1.0.7
Thing That went wrong
1. Xorgwizard failed for me (not a single resolution worked)
2. Tried converting pup file from 1.0.6 to 1.0.7 (went horribly wrong). Now I will have to redo all customizations from the very beginning.
3. The freetype-6.8.3 I had compiled did not improve the fonts as it did in 1.0.6 ( I guess because 1.0.7's xserver is different from Xorg.pup by MU. I will recompile freetype again for this xserver.)
Things I Liked
1.Good icons
2. Xorg based puppy
3. Additional utilites
4. An updated version of unionfs (I suppose) . Which should not crash like the older version.
5. KDE works (not comletely tested)

Yes, to upgrade from 1.0.7beta, I should have also said to change /etc/puppyversion back to 1.0.6 beforehand.Lobster wrote:control Panel - xdiskusage - icon missing - does not seem to do anything - could be a beta conflict? Does it work for others?

Where is Gdmap?
"Morizot Firewall" (in the menu) should be changed to "Linux Firewall"
Otherwise, Xdiskusage will still be in the menu, and Gdmap will be missing.
Ditto for Morizot firewall.

That firewall is superb
Xorg is very smooth (much simpler than xvesa for beginners I hope)
Are you gonna be focussing on ALSA for 1.0.8?
Firefox? (did you want to breath? tsk tsk)
Gdmap is a weird. I certainly like it . . . usable? - we will find out.
where is "tkGamma"?
gxhost seems to be a rather neat addition if you are on a network

if you install Icewm after installing or upgrading to Puppy 1.0.7, it might install an older Icewm menu ... easiest fix is to install the Icewm menu for 1.0.7 dotpupWhere is Gdmap?
i've found treemaps to be very useful to find the largest files in a folder or drive, which makes it easier to get back some free space ... i always install SequioaView in Windows (actually, i haven't booted Windows in a long time) and use it a lot ... there have been quite a few treemap projects since SequioaView first came out
Congratulations! Puppy Linux 1.0.7 currently is the featured download at the LinuxTracker torrent site.
Our Where to find Puppy Linux P2P file distribution points wiki page has been updated to point to the more popular LinuxTracker torrents as well as the Revolutionist hosted ones (he has usr_devx.sfs & the Unleashed file that the others don't). That page, like always, lists what P2P applications Puppy has available with new install/compile instructions for the BitTorrent client.
Also, those having trouble with slow downloads should try the Axel download accelerator that's included with Puppy.

I love treemap type disk usage programs.
Xdiskusage was clunky but potentially lovable. Extremely easy to use, not too hard to understand. I am sorry to lose it (gone with 107beta) but at 290K, I accept that it was a wise choice.
Gdmap is very impressive for 56K. Very frustrating, far from user friendly. Very hard to get it to start actually doing anything, and impossible to get doing something useful, from the desktop menu. (Just try to get at /. How many total clicks? Is it even possible? Is there any way to type in a path?)
I have discovered that it is usable from the command line:
gdmap -f /
How can the desktop menu be reconfigured to come up in that state instantly when Gdmap is chosen?
(If I wasn't trying to make myself get comfortable with the command line df du etc, I'd be much more upset with gdmap -- it will take a long time to get over feeling lost and disoriented among all those pretty colored boxes. Spacemonger for windows is similar, clunkier, but much more usable.)
