PostPosted: Wed 09 Dec 2009, 14:37    Post_subject:  Google Chrome Beta Linux

I downloaded the RPM vresion of Google-chrome beta for linux. I am using Puppylinux 3.01. I have tracked down and installed the outstanding dependencies.

Then I started the program and got this message:

/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by /usr/bin/google-chrome)

I research through google and the puppy google search, but haven't found much direction.

I am assuming ( always a loaded term) that Puppy Linux 3.01 requires a newer version of glibc to make google-chrome happy.

Any advise welcome.

/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 <--

its this that needs updating..I have 6.0.9...seems to keep software happy...check in /usr/libs for the version you have..

Thanks for your advise, That eliminated that error. Now another appears.

I feel like I'm Alice in Wonderland. Don't know if it is worth the effort, but will post the new error. Hopefully this doesn't branch into a rabbit hole path :)

/usr/bin/google-chrome: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/google-chrome: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_impl

I will get it another try and keep investigating. That is what beta software implies, you have to roll with the punches.

Forum is in a state so no notifications....

that next error suggests a newer gtk/gobject needed.

Chrome is a bit of a behemoth and will probably need a string of new libraries.

Its tricky one to know what to run ldd on to get a fuller picture of what is required.

Sorry to be vague
