Dpup additional software testing.
Actually....... I've got this itch to try things directly from the Debian (and other .deb) repos, just to see what works without needing Puppification. I've just tried Chrome in Jemima's pupeee, and don't like it. So if Firefox starts being temperamental again, I'll go for Seamonkey.
Incidentally, it seems Debian have dropped Ice-Ape (=Seamonkey) from the Lenny repo.

Amarok SFS
I've striped and repackaged amarok sfs for dpup, now it's 33 MB
Removed docs, mans, locales and some other kde shared stuff (also tried to remove crystal svg iconset which is 5+ MB but amarok looks terrible without it
Had to add xine libs which are no longer in dpup
Tested on clean dpup boot with pfix=ram
Verified to play mp3/wav/ogg/flac/audio cds/shoutcast streams, visualizations, equalizer and all other features should work ok the only bug I noticed is that tray icon is not properly displayed in tray but minimized in own window, you can disable that in amarok configuration, so it doesn't show tray icon, will try to fix that.
Here is the sfs: amarok-1.4.10-lite-dpup_484.sfs 33 MB
MD5: amarok-1.4.10-lite-dpup_484.sfs-md5.txt
Enjoy!

Re: Amarok SFS
Great, the sfs I've been using wouldn't work with dpup, however, it can't be downloaded because permissions are not set.dejan555 wrote:I've striped and repackaged amarok sfs for dpup, now it's 33 MB
Thanks,

Yeah, saw that, if I make more changes worth repackaging I will fix it, for now I can make pet with new desktop file or just copy/paste this command in terminal who wants to fix
Code: Select all
sed -i 's%Icon=amarok%Icon=/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/amarok.png%' /usr/share/applications/kde/amarok.desktop

Hi there, I compiled VLC 1.0.5 for dpup (light package, without interfaces) and tested on clean dpup 484 beta 4 boot.
I made a simple gtk frontend (VERY BASIC!) so you know you can have much more options in command line! (Maybe some of our bash/GTK developers might make some decent frontend eh? Now there's challenge for them )
I also added ROX right clicks on video files to play with VLC
Tested for sure to play these formats:
DVD/ Audio CD/ MPG/ MP4/ MP3/ OGG/ FLAC/ AVI/ FLV/ ISOS/ WMV/ WAV/ AU/ RM
Here you go: vlc-1.0.5-lite-i486-dpup.pet 2.8 MB
OH, right, if you use vlc thru frontend from menu for audio files be sure to click the "Stop" button to be sure that vlc process doesn't hang even if song is finished!
Enjoy!
**EDIT** Reuploaded package with subtitle font fix and sc0ttman's gtk frontend 1.1
Here's the VLC GTK thread:

Anyone watching this thread anymore?
Anyway I compiled icewm 1.3.6 on dpup, seems good so far and renders almost all themes perfectly, I've tested quite number of them, the only problems were 18k-metal and 4dwm from icepak.pet (don't use, will crash X!).
ttuuxxx's themes display nice and also tested some new windowish themes from box-look.
Install pet then exit X, type xwin icewm-session to run it.
Here's the pet: icewm-1.3.6-i486-dpup.pet 618 KB

Re: Icewm 1.3.6 for dpup
Does it work with the (p)kde(2) themes from icepak.pet?dejan555 wrote:Anyone watching this thread anymore?

kde, kde2, pkde, pkde2 all crash IceWM for me.

Of course.
Dpup showed a great deal of promise
and is still there as a base for further development using Woof
for the Debian enthusiast.
I found it reliable with many innovations, even at the beta stage.
News, current status, new software etc can always be added here
