WireWulf, could you give some idea what this is for; who, or what specific program or piece of hardware, might need it?

for future reference it is a perl compatible regular expression library. Programmers use it when they want to use perl style regular expressions instead of the style that is used in the GNU C library.

Only thing I've come accross is that depends upon this is Privoxy, but Im' sure there are plenty of others.

Maybe he refers to amarok sfs that needs the lib to work on puppy 4.3.x. Just guessing. :P Lib is provided there in thread though...
