Pnetlive 04 (nov 2014)

#1 Post by trio »

Hi,

I always have difficulty when downloading BIG FILES from the internet, whether in windoze or in puppy. It always stops after a while, since there is no computer to internet activity. In windoze there are some free apps such as bysoft keep alive, etc

This is what I made for myself in puppy, thought I would share it if it's any good.

- Menu entry is under internet group
- Activity every 5 secs
- It will be activated on every boot, unless you choose Stop-ping
- Do not activate without internet connection

Regards,

Trio

excellent Idea I was looking for something like that a couple months ago with my messed up monitor :) will it stop the screensaver from turning on? I had issues with the my monitors built in one, that made the screen black and then I had to turn the monitor on and off around 20 times before the picture would stay, it would happen if I walked away from the keyboard for more than 5 minutes. So I went out and purchased a new monitor, Its a shame it was a 19"LCD with no dead pixels. Also would this stop a default puppy screensaver from running, I remember a few years back when I was viewing a movie from the pc to the tv and the puppy default screensaver would start and I would have to go up and press a key to remove it. Hasn't happened in years, but just wondering.

ttuuxx,

Thanks for the input, it has not yet has the ability to prevent screen lanking and screen saver off.

I made one tool for that:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=337437

Note: puppy 4.3.1 already fixed the issue of turning those off with:
(from menu entry) pupX - set properties of X, while earlier versions have bugs

Anyway, I can integrate that function to next version

Regards,

Trio
