How do I get Puppy to use Adaptec 7850 SCSI controller?

#1 Post by peterbolger »

On one computer I run a scsi scanner, Epson filmscan200, by way of vuescan and win98. The scanner is connected to a pci scsi controller card adaptec 7850. This system works well.

I would prefer to run it through Puppy but cannot do it, so I tried Knoppix for comparison.

Knoppix 3.6 finds the scsi controller, adaptec 7850, using the driver aic7xxx.o, and through ii will run an HP scanner, but not the Epson filmscan200, which needs vuescan. Knoppix 3.6 will not run vuescan.

Puppy will run vuescan OK, but does not find the adaptec 7850 scsi controller through which to access the filmscan200. How do I acquire the correct aic7xxx.o module and install it in Puppy so that Puppy will run the pci scsi control card Adaptec 7850?

This is a little bit complicated but if you take a look at this site it will give you an idea of what is entailed in your request.
