HP Pavilion N5415 900MHz Subject description: Can't find pcmcia slots or external modem |
|
XP finds pcmcia but 'Phone and Modem control panel cannot be opened'.
Puppy 4.3.0 cannot find pcmcia cards (cardbus USB, noncardbus serial modem and three ethernet cards), finds external modem but ppp0 dies (see other posting).
The external modem works with DOS kermit and basiclinux eznet (I am online with it now).
Puppy does find built-in ethernet and USB, which basiclinux does not do, nor does it find pcmcia cards.

HP Pavilion N5415 with puppy 4.31 Subject description: internal tulip ethernet not connecting |
|
Onboard tulip ethernet card (presume mini-pci but maybe pcmcia)
is detected with the right driver, live network found, but
auto DHCP does not connect. The card works in Basiclinux 2
(with busybox udhcpc) and in XP. The onboard pcmcia slots
are dead so I can't go online with puppy unless it will work
with the USB wireless card that works in xp.

HP Pavilion N5415 PCI tulip ethernet Subject description: works in Lupu and other linuxes, XP, not Puppy 4.31 |
|
Onboard wired ethernet works in Basiclinux, Lupu 5.10, XP, but not Puppy 4.31. Card is correctly identifed as tulip, live network, but dhcp fails. A Hawking USB wired network card works with 4.31. The PCMCIA slots are dead. How can I make onboard ethernet work in 4.31? In Lupu the driver is built into the kernel (did not check 4.31).

Puppy 4.31 network setup problem Subject description: fixed by manual edit of resolv.conf |
|
We had changed routers. The old
IP number was still in resolv.conf and when I changed
it manually, I was able to connect.
For some reason auto DHCP did not replace the old number.
