Puppy Stardust 005
Re: Initial tests on 005-lameSMBexplorer
I see elsewhere in the forum
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 73&t=50901
(+comments from ttuuxxx) that other are having problems with lameSMBexplorer.
Hope therefore you will revert in 006 to the stable Pnethood which works perfectly.

zigbert I am not good at reading your text in first post.
You kind of say that this Stardust Puppy behave very differently.
It install itself from scratch. No Live session at all. The only way
to try it is to let it install itself first.
that is not what i am used to. All Puppy I have tested let one use it as "live" for as long as one like.
Is it just me failing to read the obvious or should I trust this puppy to be an install only version?

Zigbert, a question............ here is the code from ptray that adds the tasklist:
What do I need to do to make it specify a maxwidth, say, 200?
I set my tasklist to 200 manually, but every time I use ptray, it overwrites my custom change? I use this tag:
Code: Select all

Hi Zigbert,
I used Theme Maker from menu and saved the theme, all OK but when clicked apply from the gui it closed OK but the bottom tray had vanished.
No amount of re-filing would bring it back. It had deleted the jwmrc-tray and placed a symlink which won't delete. It is an error link and stalls with input/output error.
In the tray maker the main-tray says 'nothing' as select. If I select it then it still doesn't load.

Tested to do a USB live mem stick using UNetbootin but it fails to connect to the wired LAN. It says it is successful and if I want to save that connection to next time. But it doesn't work.
Wireless show up though which is a bonus. It even light the LED for Wifi.
Only Jolicloud did that up to now so that was cool.
I like the look of your Startdust. How do I go about to get the wired LAN going. It is fiber optics in the Cellar and copper to every flat and we have a Switch that take care of assigning us IP individually. A Broadband thing. 50MB even if it says 100MB.
What can I do to get wired going?

@DaveS (re p4,a14 - jwm corner) yep, no corners since the 'rounded' look came into fashion
@01micko muchas gratz for the xdeltas (while you're sweltering in the shed, I keep having to add logs to the fire .. tanj)
firstlook (pfix=ram, nosave) is fine, a bit of confusion to habit of rclick for rootmenu, but the 'favorites'menu is a good idea. If I can get s1 sorted, likeliest I'll try a liveCD-switch-upgrade and hope it takes without too much mucking about (s1's fairly awful in some things since I manually redid 'most all the menus yet the official full-boat keeps rising thru the layers as well as all that stuff in /root/my-applications/bin). leafpad in a console gives .. not even nicoedit. Fonts don't display well for me on a CRT - kerning (spacing of characters) is usual almost-hurts-to-look-at .. abi' still points to nico' as an alternate? ah, ptray setup looks much more functional but may I suggest renaming all of them to natural position rather than supposed function? Bottom, left, right and top? Main, second, third and fourth is hardly clear even if the user recalls which is set up where. nevermind, I just recalled that there's an option to do something similar..
will get back to this one (got sidetracked with q003 )

Hopefully Trio will look at this. It sounds like the theme-maker should check whether ./jwmrc-tray(2-4) is a file or a symlink. If link, point the changes to the actual file (readlink $HOME/.jwmrc-tray). In Stardust all the tray configs are symlinks pointing to whatever defined preset in Ptray.tasmod wrote:Hi Zigbert,

I am aware of errors from 'jwm -p'. At the moment none of them is harming jwm. It seems that 'jwm -p' is not working correct for a exec command in a menuitem pointing to file with spaces in filename. - But it works just fine.DaveS wrote:jwm -p currently throwing up these errors:I think I am right in saying the 'Corner' tag is no longer supported in the current jwm?Code: Select all

Hi ziggy
Rob and I have upgraded Startmount to ver 0.2.0. The gui is much improved and many little bugs have been fixed.
DaveS.
I notice you had a problem with Startmount. Try the latest version, and if you still have a problem post over in the Startmount thread. Rob or myself will get the problem sorted.
Cheers

Printing doesn't work for me - any idea?
Hi everybody
i tried to install my two networked printers in Puppy Stardust 005 and whatever I do, as soon as I try to print the test page I get the status message from CUPS:
"/invalidfont in findfont"
The printers are a Laserjet P2055DN and an OfficeJet 7410. I have downloaded the hpliplite pet-package from the repository so the drivers are not the problem. BTW: doing the same installation in Official Puppy 4.3.1 as well as the latest LHP is no problem - the test pages print o.k.
Any idea what might be missing in Stardust in order to make printing happen
Thanks - Bernhard

Hmmm..
Could that be to do with removing type 1 fonts? I didn't try printing yet, but may do so...
