pup-431.sfs not found. ONLY on USB bootup - SOLVED |
|
SOLVED
Greetings, I am brand new to all forms of Linux (I tried Ubuntu for about 2 days but didn't like it.) I ran Puppy from the CD I created in Windows and it WORKS AMAZING! I love it, everything about it.
I have searched the forum, but can not seem to find the exact problem, so please don't yell at me if I'm duplicating a question
I have been able to run Puppy off of the Live CD without any problems, however, I have tried to create it so that I could boot off of a usb. I created the Live USB following the tutorials on here without any problems, so I thought.
I changed my BIOS so that it boots from the USB as directed on the forum, and it starts booting from the USB without a problem. It loads the first couple files (I think two files) and then an error occurs:
pup-431.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console…
/bin/sh" can't access tty; job control turned off
Like I said, it works perfectly on the LiveCD, I just prefered the USB if possible. I reformated, recreated, and tried everything I could to get the USB to work, but it's beyond my skill level.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
SOLVED

Try another USB port in the back of your computer.
" But it didn't work off the front port.
Others did...some didn't.
So you must check all ports.
Because there is no clear standard with USBs. "

Thank you! I can not believe that it was as simple as that. I tried all four of the USB drives on my laptop. Two of them work, two of them do not!
This problem, for me, is solved!
