OpenBox GTK Guide plus more how-to

#1 Post by ttuuxxx »

I came across this very excellent web-guide on Openbox and other related gtk, panels, themes etc. A lot of the guide is good for gtk and themes, etc.
so I converted it into a installable guide which can be found in menu/documents.
The website is located at http://urukrama.wordpress.com/openbox-guide/#Gtkthemes and the pet is below. Its very handy for the themer in you :) lol

Wow Tux!!! Thanks for having made this .pet! I went and visited the above link and the sheer amount of data the guy has posted there re: GTK Theming is mind-blowing to say the least!

So thank you so very much for having taken the time out of your schedule as I know how busy you are, and having made this for people like me who have "leaky-brains". LOL! I for one certainly appreciate the effort here. Incredible... just incredible!

Thank you again! Merci mille fois!

EDIT 13:05: Hi Tux! Installed this to my Puppy-4.2.1 and it properly went to my "/usr/share/doc/OpenboxGuide_files" as it should have with the menu link going to "Start/Documents/Openbox Guide". However, when clicking upon the start menu link SeaMonkey loads the first page with all the subsequent Openbox links ( as it should of course ) yet clicking upon those links I receive a "OpenboxGuide3.html is not located in /root...".

I went to check in "/usr/share/doc" and sure enough there sat the "OpenboxGuide3.html" file. So what I did to get it to work was to simply make a syslink to my "/root" directory and now it works perfectly. Just thought that I should come back to let you know, okie my friend? :)

Thanks again for this very valuable wealth of information! It's fabulous!

so openbox is pretty nice.

however, I want to get a Pager and a System Tray to use with this (I DO NOT want a complete Panel, I am using WBar).

I can't seem to find any Pagers and Trays that are installable for me on Puppy.

any help here?

on the Guide there were a multitude of options, but I don't know how to actually install them since they are not .Pet packages.

Hi JMW4th!

Actually, Openbox has a rudimentary "type" of pager/system tray, though I don't use it myself much either
as I pretty much use the setup that Magerlab does, with fbpanel, which is really awesome. :)

However: If you minimise an app's window? You can find it again, or switch to different desktops, by right-
clicking upon the desktop window and I "believe" you'll find your desktops there by number along with any
apps you minimised by desktop there - like as you would in the other *box window managers, namely Fluxbox
and Blackbox.

I hope this has helped somewhat JMW? And I hope you're enjoying Puppy! :)

Amicalement/Cheers!
