Access your Puppy from a Remote Windows/Linux

#1 Post by gcmartin »

I have never ventured into installing much beyond a PET because I've most of what I need.

I just found a package that has been around in Ubuntu for about a year which really solve the remote access for a desktop on PUPPY.

I have tested this on Knoppix and on Ubuntu. It is fabulous. It turns Puppy into a Terminal Server.

There is NOTHING to install on the machines that would be crossing the LAN to use PUPPY....Nothing! I have tested in on all of my Windows (XP/Vista/7). Simply start RemoteDesktop to the Linux IP address and sign in to get the GUI desktop. .... do Linux work....as if you were at the Console running Linux GUI desktop.....Fabulous.

The package is XRDP and I would like to install an use it on my Puppy. Can someone suggest steps a simpleton like me should follow to install this?

I want to POST installation step on the forum.

And from there, would you use Woof to build a PET or do something simpler?

Thanks in advance....

On Knoppix, I have a LiveCD running in RAM.

I have 2 users logged into it from 2 different Windows machines on my LAN, and it is blazing for each of us. (And, I mean blazing... with everything.)

I want to do this with my Puppy(s).
