...I agree with noobie post above, Stardust puplet has a nice list of
bugfixes (see here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=392128#392128 and it would be great
to get a puppy v4.3.1 upgraded with theses fixes before adding
new improvements.

Hopefully someone will issue a pet that addresses only the bug fixes....allowing all to maintain a "fixed" version of the official release.

yes, "hopefully", but we need to be clear on the numbering I think because
there are many newbies everyday, and many people working at building
pupplets and so... So a good numbering rule would help, if I may Wink

Best regards

The idea of 4.3 for the official release makes sense. How about 4.3F for the fixed version?

New the delicate question: Who determines which version becomes 4.3.1?

well the "fixed" version is numbered by Barry using two digits, like v4.3,
then people use it and finds bugs Confused , then "clever" peoples shows how to fix
the bugs Laughing , and after a few days we already have a little list of bugfixes...
then someone (and that could just be everyone) remasters the official version
from Barry with the bugfixes applied and post a new message in the
thread for v4.3. If this remaster is the first one in the thread, then
the number will be v4.3.1. A few days later more bugfixes are published,
and someone (the same as first, or just anyone else) remasters again
the iso and publish a new post in the thread, and the number will be v4.3.2
and so on...

The nice thing is whether someone wants to remaster the official iso at
every bugfixes we will never lost count ! Moreover, we could just have people
maintaining the remaster thing whithout having to ask to the people whom
made the bugfixes... Moreover again that work can easyly be made by just
anyone having time, and we all know we sometimes have free time for
a few days, then it is someone else whom have one day spare time etc...
so we could just work much easier with each others. Even more, this work
will be useful for everyone not just the newbies trying to get the last
release bug free, but also for old timers who could rely on stronger releases one after another etc...

Well it seems to me while I'm writting it, we should have done it long
ago Laughing

Best regards
Laurent

That means if I want to create a distro based on 4.3.2, instead of calling it 4.3.2(the current convention), I should give it a distinctive name(example tlcxxxxxx) and clearly indicate it's based on the official 4.3.2

Software distribution may be a lot like growing up.....it takes a while to become boring and logical.

well, I was only speaking for the official puppy from Barry, not for
other distros pupplets...

The idea is to be able to offer the latest stable release and to be able
to locate it at a glance. And if someone find a bug and fixes it, he can
also provides to the community the release so everyone can easyly
know what has been done since the last release. Just something
easy and simple.

Best regards
Laurent

PostPosted: Mon 15 Mar 2010, 14:10    Post subject: Wireless

Running a bootable USB with 4.3.2 Notice that it take several trys to get a wireless connection in my acer 5100 laptop, where 4.3.1 always gets it on the first try. In additon, unlike 4.3.1, the wireless settings are not saved when I reboot the system, so wireless operation is not convenient.

That file is written when wireless is set up? is it a temp file that is not being copied to the one that is saved when you reboot the system?

Thanks
Thom

Late to the party here, but I have 432 up and running frugally with no problems. Installed Aqualung, Firefox, Filezilla and Pwidgets pets straight away, ndswrapper is feeding me proper bandwidth and all is humming along nicely.
