Riptide sound drivers loaded but no sound, Puppy 4.31 retro

Identifies this PCI sound card but cannot hear anything when it 'barks' during setup.
Did not try with an MS OS or another Puppy version. Simpler to replace the sound card in this 450MHz with ISA slot. Video and network card work fine.

I downloaded the riptide driver but have already
given away the computer the card used to be in.
I will try it in another HP Pavilion (circa 1999).
The modem part of the combo works with Puppy - HSF.

I did run the mixer? I pcm turned up or is it at 0?
