Hello,
I loaded down pup-431.iso and burned it to a CD. It was done in my Packard Bell Easy Note TJ65; Windows 7 Home Premium. I have tried to boot the CD in two different desk tops with Windows XP Professional: one healthy one, which deliver then message "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter";
the other one with a faulty Windows which keeps trying to boot windows from the hard disk over and over again, although that option is disabled. The file was said to be the latest version. When looking at the file´s properties, the type is said to be a mirror.
I would be greatful for some tips if somebody have.
I burned a Puppy CD but it won't boot
How did you burn the CD? If you open the CD in Windows, what are the contents of the CD?

Did you verify the final burned disk again the iso image?
If you burn CDs under Windows, I like "imgburn", which burns the iso and verifies the burn (you can also perform a "verify" on the burned image, which would be good in this case, as you would know positively that it was good or bad)..

Check these, and let us know.
The fact that 2 different machines seem to report the same problem points to a bad CD, or bad starting image.
