Lots of guests in our forum

#1 Post by BarryK »

I have just logged into the Forum.
When I arrived, there were 17 guests, no registered users logged in.

Barry: I think we may be singing from the same hymn sheet?! :

John seems like a really nice, kind, knowledgeable guy, but not sure whether he's been influenced by siren voices.....
A 'no-post without sign-on' and a permanent log-in that works would help immensely.
By the way, Ladislav has said some nice things about you and v2.0, this week. But, I get the impression that he may be expecting too much too soon.

Ha ha, yes, Ladislav has picked up some speculation off the Puppy Forum. Anyway, I posted a reply.

I saw that! Nice little banter going there. Should be good for publicity. Were you the possum? (very Humphries-esque) or Anon?

I was anonymous, didn't mean to be though, just missed the bit where I should have entered my name.

Thanks

I wish I was convinced that was the case ... If Barry asked me to do it I would, but when it came to the poll on the subject I wanted at least 70% consensus before potentially putting people off the forum.

It's your site, John, but I'm not convinced about web polls. The silent majority usually remain so.
Unless, of course, you implement no-access-without-a-vote. This is possible. Doesn't Oz have compulsory voting?

Local Presence

#8 Post by raffy »

As Puppy users grow, the presence of local support should also grow, to handle ever-increasing number of requests. This includes Web support (the cheapest kind of support, BTW). For enthusiasts interested to get started, here is a tutorial: http://puppylinux.org/members/demo/

The site should preferably be in another hosting to relieve the main sites of load. Jcagle offers hosting - PM him at http://www.murga.org/~puppy/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=718 or try livin4.com.
