Does any one know of a Gimp DotPup for 1.0.1? I was not able to find one.

Um, why couldn't you use the Gimp in Pupget?

Any reason you can not use PupGet in 1.01 from the Puppy menu?

Start /Setup /pupget package Manager

It does not show up in my PupGet list. I thought that it was only avaliable for the 1.0.2 PupGet.

Your reasons are good. How about a dotpup made specifically for v1.01 which is a script that will wget the gimpxxx.tar.gz from ibiblio and extract it to Puppy's file structure?

When (if) the v1.0.1 user upgrades the files will be lost as I found it. But what can you do? It's not a big deal to reinstall it with v1.0.2 PupGet.

Well, you can upgrade to Pup 1.0.3.

One problem with 1.0.1 is that there have been some bug fixes in the PupGet script since then.
PupGet has the ability to install a package that you have already downloaded and is local -- but I don't recall if local install is supported in 1.0.1 version of PupGet.

...so, best advice is update!

I'm a bit confused by this post. I'm using 1.0.1 and i downloaded and installed the Gimp 2. Works perfectly too !

<< EDIT >>

Just checked the pupget list from my computer and it's not listed there.
If I recall, I followed the link in one of the threads in this forum, downloaded the furball and extracted it. Possibly this is a bit more of a Manual install, but it's fully functional on 1.0.1 ( for me anyway )

I upgraded from 1.0.1 to 1.0.3 Bare Bones. Gimp now works. Thanks!

Gee, maybe BareBones is going to be popular...
it was just an impulsive thing, creating a bare-bones puppy.

I think Bare Bones is a great idea. It's kind of like having an unleashed package with 90% of the work done. You've already added all the applications that we would have put in anyways, and we can still tweak it to our tastes.
