Here is a crash course in design

Less is more

do not overdesign - especially if you have no talent/training/experience

KISS (Keep it Simple Sweety)
Safe Colours are black, white, grey - red is striking
A small icon in a corner (top left is good)
is easier than reading text on graphic
Simple plain font (one font PLEASE for Splash screens - bold and size differences are sufficient - perhaps with italic)

Fill with Space
Space adds clarity

Convey message
see image and improve at will
