Multisession Puppy missing /usr/X11R6/bin/X?

I am enthusiastic about Puppy and find it the most innovative Linux distro I have ever used. A small problem is having produced two DVD multisession "coasters" lately after about 8-10 successful sessions on each. The X11 file is indeed missing, but I am uncertain whether it results from failure of my DVD burner to complete the update burning, since it seems to hang, or whether I am up against a bug. Puppy works very well on the same machine, when I update to a USB device. The multisession DVD concept just seems even more attractive.

you could try in a console:
ls /usr/X11R6/bin
This should list some files.
If there is "Xorg" and "Xvesa", you can do:
cd /usr/X11R6/bin
ln -s Xorg X
This will set Xorg as the active xserver.
Or do
ln -s Xvesa X
to use xvesa.
Or run the "xorgwizard" to set up X again.

Thanks Mark,
Will try. Unfortunately I can not boot up from the DVD because of the missing file, i.e. I can't get to a console.
Any ice on Amstelmeer yet?

The console is what you get,when X cannot start.
The prompt where you can enter text.
Thats the same as a consolewindow in X.
Just type in the commands.

Thanks Mark for your help and interest.
I followed your advise, realising that "console" need not be graphical. The choice of commands did come up, but Xorg did not work at all, and Xvesa just resulted in a grey screen with an X that could be moved with the mouse. Anyhow, I still have a perfectly working mini-CD/USB installation, and will set up the multisession DVD-R alternative on another machine, being uncertain whether my DVD burner explains the problem.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that that grey screen with the x is in all actuality a usable gui; just right click with the mouse to get a "start menu" with your program listings. i've seen that happen in redhat on occasion.

That is "pure" X without a working desktop.
To start a Desktop, try "xwin jwm".
Or for tests "xwin rxvt"

Thank you Mark and "zelmoby",
The "xwin rxvt" command brought back and made my desktop fully operational. I then needed the "AlienX" remaster program to restore also normal poweroff and "write session to DVD".
