i tried installing grub using the XP Like Puppy but was not able to. Eventualy i had to wipe everything and use Puppy 5.0.1.
With the grub installer i choose Simple install and it took me to the Expert install. each option in the Expert Install did nothing.

I had the same problem with puppy431NOP, it's to do with the theme, I was running it with the Luna XP theme, had to use one of the themes that it came with for the grub to run, I still have not worked out why or what needs to be changed in the theme to make it compatible.
you could try using a standard puppy theme then I think you'll find that grub will run fine then change back to the XP theme, hope that helps.
