Hi Lobster!

I don't have any "eye candy" for ya ( contrary to the name ;) ) but I just HAD to log in and remark upon that logo to say, "Thumbs up my man! That's truly one awesome Puppy Logo if I ever did see one!"

While I love it "as is", I was also wondering whether or not anyone could... oh shoot!... how to express it now? Who was the bloke who made the rounded/glassy logos Lobster? "RastaPup"? Too bad he wasn't still around, or if someone couldn't contact him and have just the colours of the logo/icon "glassified/bubbled-up" - while leaving the rest of the logo/icon flat and uncoloured?

Does anyone here know what I mean by this? Sort of like the menubars in "Stardust Desktop" and how those are "glassified"?

All I know Lobster is that it's a winning logo just as it is even if nobody makes any changes to it. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in other artworks re: "Lucid Pup".

One legal question which I do have, however: Does anyone know if we might be courting disaster from Conical/Ubuntu, et al., from such a close resemblance to their emblem/logo? Just curious here as we wouldn't want any legal battles or such - and we do know how judiciously they protect their property, right?

Otherwise than that - I love it and it has my support 200%!

Amicalement/Cheers!

I copied a lot of artwork from thread where they were choosing official puppy logo that we have now it's all in the gallery now :D

If you have some that I missed send me link :)

The one posted by Lobster here in first post is made by afgs, his work is awesome and if puppy 5 is going to be based on ubuntu then there are no doubts about logo, it's just perfect for it!

Hi Dejan! :D

Exactly!! You caught the meaning of what I was writing: To have the coloured parts of the "Ubuntised Puppy Logo" made like the logos you have on display above here, see? To have the orange & red parts "glassified" as per your examples shown above - while having the "null parts of the logo" left in perhaps a transparency background, or whatever?

I'm thinking perhaps transparency for the "null parts" as that way the logo would blend in nicely when placed onto wallpapers, GUIs, and such, etc. And then to have the red & orange as a shiney-glass which stands out? Very eye-catching indeed, eh?! 8)

Anyway, my two cents worth at least. ;)

Thanks for posting examples Dejan to show others what I'm thinking. I really appreciate it my fellow Puppian friend!

Amicalement/Cheers!

I think CatDude has some GIMP plugin that does that glass effect, this is the tut that describes this method:

So if anyone feels artsy... ;)
