Not sure quite what is going on with the .mozilla directory. There is a directory called default at the top level, which seems to have no effect, then another in the /.mozilla/seamonkey/ directory. Is the first left over from SM 1*?
Renaming it does not stop anything running as far as I can see........

A few things:
1. you didn't update Viewnior, did you forget it or it was by choice? didn't see a need to update it, it has a slideshow already. I didn't check but are there any must have features in the newer version? Everytime I update something it usually gets bigger, well unless I get creative with it :)
2. I personally would have added transmission, ok it takes a second for the user to install it as a pet, but since you were repacking it all...,Hmmm man I was fighting with that, transmission is about 220kb pet where as Pctorrent is 7kb pet, Its usally the first thing I change when building a version, but since this is a bug fix release/update, I wanted to keep it Barry's traditional ways. If this was for 4.5 Then yes it would be in.
3. SM2 works fine...yes, it's a bit heavier than SM1, but that's a constant with almost every new software that comes out
4. I don't like too much the new volume icon, for how it is designed it suggests you can slide it right-left to raise-lower the volume, but it obviously doesn't...maybe for a newbie it can be confusing. Yes but they find out as soon as they click on it, it does slide when you move the volume up and down and has a mute button icon when muted
You are making 4.32 very similar to your puppies4.31...I like it, infact that's the puplet I use :) Glad you like it :)
Thanks again for your work

Just delete ./mozilla, I don't save settings or configures there, thats for personal settings/addons, I include them in the seamonkey directories. That way if a user gets into some trouble they can just delete that directory and it restores back to the original state with the flashblock and turned on, theme, live bookmarks, etc already installed and ready to go. I'll delete it for the next release.

Hi ttuuxxx

Very nice - what you have done is fantastic - very well done.

One small gremlin - acpid not working.
Including the version that I thought was the latest (acpid-1.0.10-i486.pet).

However - this one (attatched) does work - but I can't remember where I got it from.
Maybe from BK repo - but not sure - could have been stardust thread
here on the forum - will check.

Hope it's not too troublesome to change it when bugfix time comes.

As always - thanks again for all that you do and very best regards.

Ray

smokey01 wrote:ttuuxxx did you forget to put in Barry's Simple Network Setup or was it deliberate. Barry's new network script is just that new, I'm sure it has a few bugs left it, its ok for quirky because that is still an alpha release, but this is a stable release where really things like that need to be well tested first, I just think its a bit soon and trying to play it safe.

I also noticed the second icon in the network wizard is bigger than the rest. Good eye on ya :) naaa its because I update to that Icon, Usually I make all the icons 24x24, because they look a so much nicer, I might reduce it to 16x16 or make the rest for that gui 24x24

I like this distro. I have been using the unofficial 4.3.2 since it was released. The unofficial has some screen flicker now gone in this release and the wireless network did not automatically connect after rebooting. Not sure what will happen here as I haven't rebooted yet. I will let you know.

I do like SM2.

Great work. Thanks :)

Thanks

ttuuxxx it didn't like doing a full install. Once I got to the select wireless interface, wlan0, it all turn to poo.

There was no recovery from there and also like a few others have reported it did not power down so I had to hold in the power button.

I also noticed that you left out jemimah's pwireless2. Barry had it in his unofficial 4.3.2.

Regards

Smokey

jemimah's pwireless2 is like a 200kb pet, Barry's Unofficial release was 2MB larger than this one, :) Just trying to keep it trim, Since we already have 1 wireless too that works.

could you also try the the updated acpid and see if it powersdown? http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... h&id=27870

Hate to show my ignorance, but what is acpid? BTW, Jemimah did a lovely battery state indicator to replace the ugly one that comes standard. I have used it for weeks on various pups with no problems.

Pic shows it configured blue for charging. It displays red when discharging. Pop-up from mouse hover.

see if it powersdown?
It's only big because it includes an upgrade of wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd. However the network wizard would would have to be modified for the new dhcpcd because the syntax is different.

Now that I have installed the acpid.pet the computer will reboot but hangs when I try and shut down.

I installed Barry's SNS and now I am on line. I will reboot and see if it saves the settings and connects on the next boot.

ttuuxxx I think the problem is with the wireless modem and the full installation. It seems to work ok with the frugal install. If I unplug the modem before I shut down or reboot it works properly. If I manually remove the modem driver then the computer will shut down although it does spit out a few errors.

The modem is a Netgear WN111 and the driver is ar9170usb.

Hi jemimah do you have a pwireless2 with a modified network wizard all in one pet that I could drop in, I don't have/use wireless so testing that sort of mods would be impossible.

Another problem I have noticed when using SM2. If you press the submit button after posting it gives you a preview. If you press it again then it submits it, strange. If you press it again you get a double post.

It is not happening like that with chrome.

Hi ttuuxxx

Yes it deff. works -

install - then restart X
and bingo - it's set to go.

no need to re-boot when running live (ie no save_file)

close laptop lid - puppy goes to sleep (suspends)
open lid - puppy wakes up - ready to go again.

This looks like it is the updated acpid that smokey01 linked to in his post.

many PC users will probably find it works by calling the suspend.sh

Thanks again and very best regards - Ray

ttuuxxx,
Ignore my comment re tray 'config corrupt' it was a problem of my own making.

I was testing new Startmount and we had used "&" in the menu title in dir2pet. This causes the JWM tray config manager to say "corrupt config keeping original" when setting desktops number.

Wireless problem in V3

#169 Post by TomRhymer »

I'm trying out V3, this is the first time I've tryed one of your 4.3.2 versions. I'm using an Acer Aspire One AOD-150 netbook, booting from a flash drive made with Unetbootin.

When I boot up, I can connect to my wireless network and get on the internet using PWireless. If I try the network setup, I can't connect. The wireless activity light on the case doesn't even flash. Also, after trying the network setup, I can't connect using PWireless until I reboot.

I didn't have any trouble with this in 4.3.1.

Another odd thing is when I use my netbook to view html files from my hard drive. Seamonkey can't open an html file if the filename has spaces in it.

I never figured out a sane, user-friendly way to have both coexist. You'd have to see how Barry set it up in Quirky. Personally I wouldn't add it for a "bugfix release."
