G'day,
I do a bit of editing websites and find it much easier to use a wysiwyg html editor - and the best that linux has to offer is kompozer. However, I have had numerous problems with other kompozer pet packages; with undefined symbols and segmentation faults, etc.... Most likely it's because I still use Puppy 3.01.
So I packaged up my own using the latest version available.

Ignore the plethora of dependencies required; I changed the path which Kompozer looks for dependencies to its own folder; so as not to interfere with any other mozilla dependencies floating around your /usr/lib.

I have included a desktop entry for 'Internet'.

This has been tested on a fresh install of Fat-Free Puppy-301_xorg - so it will work in 3.01. Am curious to see if it will work in Puppy 4.

Kompozer's still at heart a stand-alone version of the Composer component of Seamonkey, though, so many Puppy users might already have a variation of it.

I don't remember what improvements were made to Kompozer/NVU/etc. over Composer, though (or if the Seamonkey team have also made any improvements on Composer, for that matter...)

Kompozer is based on NVU is a development of Composer. The NVU team did a wonderful job but the project died - Kompozer is what the development of NVU should have looked like.
I have tried Composer for a couple of hours and is capable of creating only very basic websites (prehaps I gave up too soon!) - Kompozer will allow creation/editing of CSS based websites, allows Java integration and direct editing of live websites - to name a few of the major improvements over Composer.
I now only use Bluefish and Kompozer - with these two you can create a truely modern Website syle.

If this is possible with Composer I would indeed appreciate being enlightened.

PS. To the best of my knowledge there hasn't been any development with Composer for a long time.

Right. I knew that it went Composer > NVU > Kompozer, basically - that's why I said Kompozer was still somewhat the Composer component 'at heart.' I just didn't know or remember what improvements had been made in either NVU or Kompozer (even considering I've used all three... )

Good to hear that the Seamonkey Composer isn't just gathering dust, so to speak.

G'day,
I have found a potential bug. Need to confirm this on other systems...

CSS view is compromised - not getting the same view as from the Browser - yet I can view the CSS layout on NVU.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Running from terminal I haven't seen any dependency glitches yet.

PS. Menu and taskbar fonts are a bit too small - I think they're adjustable in a conf file - will look into it.

Am having a problem in Lucid Puppy 5.0 getting the Kompozer installation to work.

I installed it with the quickpet utility, but Kompozer wouldn't start when I clicked on the links to it in the menu. I removed that quickpet installation and downloaded and installed the above kompozer-0.8b3 pet from toowoombalinux, but with the same result.

I don't have the seamonkey suite installed, in case that's significant.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do? Thanks.

Sorry, I must have done something wrong somewhere. I booted a fresh installation of Lucid Puppy 5.0 from quickpet and Komposer installed and opened successfully.

Hello Martin, To let you know that I downloaded your 0.8b3 PET but didn't work on my Puppy 4.3.1 platform It just did nothing. However the kompozer-0.8.0 version that I subsequently installed from the forum does work. Thanks anyway, Best, munichjohn.

You can try a Kompozer pet I made from official Ubuntu debian package.
It works on my Lucid Puppy installation at least.
