Cellular USB modems supported?

#1 Post by Reaperz »

Hi again.

I purchesd two USB modems with my then service provider Alltel, which has been merged with Verizon.

They are Pantech UM cellular modems. Are there any generic drivers I could use to connect to the interweb with these, or would I also need the modem (Windows) software for them as well?

They use Quicklink Mobile.

Reaperz,
Thanks for posting your question. Welcome to the Puppy world!

After you activate the modem, your best bet is to try puppy 4.3.1 and see if the modem is detected automatically. If not, there are two update packages (.pet files) that upgrade the support to recognize even more modems. If it still does not work with those packages, you can run a command to gather information that would help me analyze the problem.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience.
Richard
