Curl Programming language

#1 Post by Lobster »

Most programmers have not heard of this language
When I used it I thought it was incredible
Easy to use and understand

They are a commercial language - Boo!
However there are some developments and support for Open Source
If they put the Curl IDE on a Puppy CD (demo disk) I might start using it again . . .
Maybe someone will have sufficient interest to suggest that . . .

There is a commercial implementation of Curl.

The language itself was developed under Professor Steve Ward at MIT.

You can get a Linux X86 binary of their 0.8 alpha version of the curl interpreter from
http://groups.csail.mit.edu/cag/curl/Bi ... linux/curl

Documentation for that version is here:

Many thanks :)

You can learn about Curl here
http://groups.csail.mit.edu/cag/curl/wwwpaper.html

and here
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Curl

It may not be suitable for mainstream Puppy
because like java it requires a plugin
and you have to sign a license to use.

It is the most incredible language to use
- not much more dificult than HTML
- yet able to do real time Ray tracing
- it uses client sided computing power, in other words it is anti-cloud computing

Michael Silver from curl corp suggested this page for getting it working on Linux
