Subject description: issues with selecting correct keymaps

Hi guys, I have come up against a wall on this one.
I am running on the eeepc 701 from SD card and the distro is the latest puppeee issue.
My keyboard is dual russian/US english. аnd type was set for standard 101 key keyboard because no other on the list corresponded .
I have used XKB to configure via advanced xorg, and correctly set US english as main and russian as second, and later tried vise versa, but only one will work fully.
the keys that have the superset numeric (NUMLOCK OFF) functions, so that the U key sends cursor left!
After I set the layout variant to keyboard on the russian to typewriter, the US would go into the same fault, and only gave variant options as standard international, dvorak, and russian phonetic, none of which helped. I need typewriter mode on US as well. Vice versa the problem is the same and the cold war goes on. If I get anywhere close, I apply changes and get Error, please try again.

Any answers would be gladly received.
Thanks.
