Boot fails at "kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe ...&

All boots well until:

"kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k binfmt-0000, errno = 8"

Any help would be appreciated. I'm running it on a Compaq Armada 1573D, 233MHz, 32MB. I want to ressurect this old machine. Thanks

usually it means you have missing or corrupted files

this might be:

bad iso
bad burn
bad ram
not enough ram
cd drive not working well
not a new enough cpu

in your case, 32 megs of ram may not be enough
