I have a HP laptop that i tried connection to my TV through the VGA port, but the TV can't find a signal. Can anybody help me with this? Do you know how much it sucks to watch MIB with your family on a laptop screen?

What input connectors does your TV have? HDMI? RCA connectors? Fahnestock clips?

It's got HDMI, Component, Composite (The yellow Connector, and PC input (A VGA port). I've also tried connecting a normal computer monitor to the laptop, but that didn't work either.

Aaah, I see. Let's get it to work with the normal monitor first, then switch to the TV.
What version of Puppy are you using, and what have you tried so far?

The laptops usually have some magic key combination for switching between internal and external displays. (For example: Fn + some key).

I am running puppy 4.2.1. I have tried using Fn-F4 (the monitor key on my laptop). it didn't really work. And YES everything IS hooked up correctly. it worked in windows.

Have you tried different resolutions?
When i connect the laptop to my tv, I need to change to 1024x768 because my tv does not support my laptops default resolution of 1280x800.

i've tried that, but the problem is that nothing's getting out of the VGA port at all. All i see is a NO SIGNAL warning, not the MODE NOT SUPPORTED message i got with windows when the resolution was too low.

You need to connect the vga cable before turning the computer on to get the external monitor to be detected properly.

What finally got it working?
