Another request,

When clear downloaded Packages/Clicking File | Clear Downloaded Packages menu.

It is manly(like Samurai..) to clear packages before someone can even say something :wink:

However, I think it's nice that there is a message like this, "Are you really OK though you delete all these files?" There is just a baloon help...

A little bit of my wish.

Thanks Mick

01micko, I tried to make a new Hebrew translation and I gave up on this one. Just drop my translation. Took about a week to put my hands up, don't say I'm a coward :)

Puppy has no BiDi support and it's so hard to get things aesthetic, I found out that the only way to make the package lists appear correctly is typing stuff in some weird order and I'm freaking out. Also, even if I write it correctly, when I have even one tiny typo, I must erase the whole line and start it all over again. I even tried to edit the file on my Fedora desky, which has BiDi support, but the text is a Bash script, it's still aligned to the left and things behave strangely with Hebrew's RTL nature.

I translated most of the text, but then I found out it just doesn't fit. There are some stuff that I have absolutely no idea how to translate, like "pets" or "sfs". I can't translate "pet" directly.

Also, a tiny suggestion: remove all the technical stuff, all instances of "pupsave" and "pets". Use "save file", "persistent save file", "packages" ...

Ok, if it can't be done, then I'll withdraw your translation.

I'll take it under advisement to use more generic names for packaging etc..

Thanks anyway,

LOCxxxa-localvar-LOCxxxb

#72 Post by MinHundHettePerro »

Hello 01micko and all localisers of quickpet!

Just a thought on the issue of localisation:
One thing that makes the translation into sv_SE a bit awkward is when a LOCxxx-variable is connected with a local variable of the quickpet.sh-script - every time a local (or possibly fetched, dunno if that's done here) variable is connected with a localised variable "LOCxxx" the LOCxxx should be divided into two, so that the construct "$LOCxxxa - $local-variable - $LOCxxxb" is possible to allow for differing syntax of our languages.

If there's nobody else working on it, I'll try to make the translation to Italian available by next week.

MHHP

Thanks muchly for your response 8)

Now I am realising the issue you put forward... the grammar of different languages. Of course you can use lisense,.. but in saying that.. do you recommend where I can improve otherwise? I am new to this (probably obvious, and only of the English tongue :wink: )

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Jacopo

Italian is free, you can take it if you want :)

Be aware, and this goes for all translators, that there will be an absolute final, no more changes version on Saturday 24-07-2010 (2010-07-24).

On that day I will be making a major announcement concerning Quickpet.

I will provide detailed changes and try to simplify as much as possible.

So, stay tuned

Jacapo, thanks for your wonderful offer and I look forward to some response some time after Saturday.

Final release is toward the end of this month

If anyone can do Portuguese or Spanish it will be much appreciated.. not by me, but the Puppy users :D

Quickpet is only 1 small step to the true internationalisation of Puppy Linux.

There is more to come.

Keep faith.

Cheers

Advanced steps for theme: 'Quickpet need a modify'

#77 Post by Abnormalter »

Note. Begin on this see please: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 665#436665
// I wrote it on Lupu/Luci Puppy theme because forum' find for mask quickpet don't display me *this* theme... :(

@01micko

Hmm.. I advise you to get a test -- about issue p.2.
Steps: 1. Frugal install the Lupu-503;
2. Create save file size=64 Mb *;
3. Use Quickpet for Opera install (I have not a messages for fail installing). Run it under terminal: opera has not runned but no any messages not displayed too! (!!!);
4. Find (by pfind for example) and see opera run script: size of many opera' files == 0 (!!!) -- see about it my screenshot please.
* Formally, opera.pet has 17 mb, and 3*17=51 and it ~= 51-52 mb effective free space on 64 mb save file... formally, I can use 64 mb save file and use ONE internet browser, for example: last free space on it about 25-30 mb...
But use manual install process, for example, uses *.pet (the opera-10.11-lucid.pet include too) on any users drives *without* puppu' filesystem, or copy it to /tmp too, -- passed true! And opera installs and works fine.
Analogically, qouckpet install under LiveCD, who users free space (alike save file free space) is about 500 mb (on my PC, install any pets, presented on this pub, pass true... :)
Any issues?

N.B. Please, remember common issues and analise please such is analogically situation -- needs to using /tmp for any SWF players the temporary media files and understand please any causes who do not creates any problem for free space on OS' filesystem... ;)

P.S. So, I test it. But using your quickpet-2.9.9-1.pet NOT resolve it! For me it's not surprising...

Translation into Swedish

Script refused to run with locale set to sv_SE :shock: - went on a serious bug-hunt - apparently a tooltip cannot contain a double quotation mark, not even properly escaped (\") :( .

I need $LOC110 to be divided into two:

Code: Select all

216  gtkdialog-splash -icon gtk-apply -timeout 5 -fontsize large -bg green -close never -text "$LOC_110a $THEPET $LOC_110b" &
.

Cannot find where $LOC_706 is displayed ...

And, for all the swedes out there - please, proof-read - I'm lousy at proof-reading my own writings :shock: :P :)

Otherwise, enjoy :)/

Thanks MHHP

I split LOC_110 in 110a and 110b in main package and en_US :wink:

LOC_706 is a tooltip in the drivers tab (some idiot forgot to put it in :oops: )

Did I put escaped quotes in tooltips? I didn't find any.

New en_US and qp-299-2 will be up shortly

Thanks mate!

Cheers

No, you didn't - I did, in my first version, and it kept me busy for quite a while :shock:. Bottom-line is, "bla, bla" seems not to be allowed in gtkdialog-"tooltips".

Cheers :)/
