What seems hard is actually easy, while what looks like impossible is in fact hard.

Hebrew and Arabic Localization
______________________________________________________
I have written a tutorial to aid people who want to contribute to the
localization of Puppy Projects by translating English phrases into
Hebrew or Arabic. There is a lack of a good bidirectional text editor,
but I think I have found the solution. It is called Yudit.
I believe it has enough features to do the job. I don't speak Hebrew
or Arabic so I don't know. I do know that it must allow several
languages and two directions of text flow, and Yudit supports this.
I invite feedback.

Possible minor annoyance - I can't double check it now because I'd have to reinstall Puppy to make sure, but the it_IT file in my 5.1 install seems to be encoded as ISO-8859-1, while the other quickpet translation files are UTF-8.
I noticed that because I was getting a weird crossed-box character in place of the accented vowels. I opened the /usr/local/quickpet/locals/it_IT file with Geany, saved it back as UTF-8 (no BOM) and then the accented vowels were rendered correctly. Not sure whether it makes a difference for all users or only the ones that choose to run their apps in UTF-8 as I do, but I thought to report it just in case.
EDIT: I did double check with a fresh install that I had to do for another reason, and I can confirm that it_IT does come encoded as ISO-8859-1.
With the ISO encoding the Italian accented vowels in Quickpet are broken for everybody (whether they check the UTF-8 box on chooselocale or not), and saving the file as UFT-8 fixes the issue for everybody .

Thanks for pointing out this issue, it will be fixed in the next version.
I wonder.. since you seem to be native Italian.. can you complete the Italian translation? Not just yet though.. in the coming days there will be some minor changes,

Portuguese translation
Hi, 01micko
Here you have a quick Brazilian Portuguese translation of Quickpet.
I wish there are some more Brazilians here to check my job.
I think I found 2 typing errors in basic English text.
In:
export LOC_WARNINGINSTALL="package will leave you with less than 45 MB \nof pupsave or partition after instaltion \nContinue?"
There is an LA missing in the word "installation"
and in:
export LOC_107="Connection timed out. Please try again later or rest the Timeout in Preferences"
I suppose the rest shoud be reset
I didn't test my translation in Quickpet yet. Taking your suggestion, I am going to rest now.
Cheers,
Renato

Spanish local for v4beta5 400...
Using the base of previous Droope work + some corrections (usé una traducción más formal para que sea entendible por todos los hispanos, no sólo por los rioplatenses -como yo-) + translation on the newest parts...
Still can't probe it on LuPu 501...
When I overwrite the 'es_ES:spanish' file for this -attached-new version, it returns to english..
Am I doing something wrong with the test?

Thanks mave and GustavoYz,
They are added for the next version, just awaiting some code from Barry to update the Quickpet back end.
Cheers

I wonder what would happen if you change your locale (menu > desktop > country settings) from es_AR to es_ES, just for testing? If that would give you the Spanish Quickpet, it would mean a link between es_AR and es_ES is missing or broken.
buena suerte!
