Network Attached Storage

#1 Post by mbridges1 »

I have several older systems. They run well under Lighthouse Pup. I also have one system with Windows 7 (my wife needs software for the visually impaired). I use one of my Puppy systems as a print server for the rest of the Puppy systems, but have been unable to access that printer from the Windows system.

Does anyone know how I might use Puppy to turn the systems into NAS and a print server which would be accessible by the Windows 7 system? I have considered using Puppy loaded from CD-ROM and then formatting the whole hard drive to be one big empty storage unit. But I would like to be able to share files between my Lighthouse Puppy laptop and the Windows 7 desktop. I would also like to be able to backup critical files to the new NAS from both the Lighthouse Pup laptop and the Windows 7 desktop.

Any ideas?

Thank you. That's what I was looking for. There is so much information on this site I was having problems narrowing down the results to get what I needed.
