I have a D255 too so if that allow use of USB3 that would be cool. Mine is very Fan noisy so I use D250 instead but have dl you latest bild and will try it out on both of them.

I give any bug report here if mouse wheel or anything is lacking.

Congrat to Fluppy-011. I've only tested it on the D250 still

Anyway, on to this EM350 netbook (it's an eMachines, which is low-end Acer). First boot failed - same problem as before, brcm80211 froze the machine (no problem, just activate wl and blacklist brcm).

Frisbee now works straightaway, no more hand-editing the wpa_supplicant.conf

Configuring sven worked the first time, but the second time I tried to launch it, it said multimedia keys were already claimed by other app (which turned out to be another instance of sven, apparently). Killing all existing instance of sven and starting it again fix the problem (until the next time I need to configure sven again).

keucr is not loaded automatically, but this is easily fixed by adding "modprobe keucr" to rc.local.

Haven't test anything else yet. Will let you know if I encounter any other issues.

Acer model numbers are very confusing - because those model has submodels, e.g. D255 can have either N450 or N550 CPU, depending on the submodels, and I'm quite sure the guts can be different also (wireless can use Atheros, Broadcomm, or Realtek etc). I know that EM350 is quite similar to one of the Acer AOA models, but can't remember exactly. Anyway, the point is there is no point comparing the model numbers - if we want to compare, we need to compare the guts rather than the model numbers.

Anyway, whether that allows you to boot Lupu520 or not, depends on what makes them fail to boot in the first place. There is no other way but trial and error ... I've downloaded Lupu520 but haven't played with it yet, so I can't say. What I can say is, in my case, Fluppy 010 and 011 failed to boot because of the brcm80211 wireless driver (the onboard wireless card on EM350 is broadcomm) froze the system during boot time. There are two drivers for this card - the open source (preferred) brcm80211 driver, and the closed-source (and older) wl driver. As shipped, Jemimah blacklisted wl driver and let brcm80211 takes over. I just swapped this configuration - I blacklisted brcm80211 and remove wl from the blacklist.

This normally can be done through GUI (through the control panel), but of course you need to be able to boot first if you want to use the control panel --- so for me, I edited the SFS to change this. To "edit the SFS", I actually unpack the flp-011.sfs (using unsquashfs), edit the /etc/rc.d/MODULESCONFIG using geany (change the line that contains SKIPLIST), and the pack it back (using mksquashfs). I think there's a GUI somewhere to do this automatically - but again, you need to be able to boot first before you can use the GUI. You can do this for any recent puppies - including Lupu520.

Yes I'm referring to blacklisting and whitelisting the wireless driver for broadcomm.

But we are unfair to Jemimah flooding her thread with details about Lupu.

Anyway I had tested some 25 or so linux distros on my Acer Netbook and Puppeee was the only one being able to lit up the led on the wifi.

She has an eye for such details so very good distro she has made.

I was lucky with Fluppy 11 it works good on my Acer.

Unpacking an sfs. Wow that is advanced. But I have done something less demanding. I did open a pupsavefile and tool out a bookmarks file and a background picture so I could reuse it in another puppy so I get that is is possible to edit a file in an sfs.

I guess one should be using pfix=ram so it is not constantly written to while one have it unpacked?

If you want to link Claws (E-mail) to Midori (Web) so that clicking on an E-mail address in Midori opens a new E-mail in Compose mode in Claws
do this:

Go to: /root/Choices/URI

Right-click on "mailto" then select Copy and name the copy "imailto" then click Copy.

Reboot.

That bug it fixed, you shouldn't need to do that with fluppy11. ...Just an extra "i" in my xdg-open script that I didn't realize was there: :/

Looks like an Elantech touchpad. I guess your model was just added to the kernel. You may find that vertical scroll doesn't work but two-fingered scrolling does.

You can disable the Elantech driver and get the original behavior by booting with psmouse.no_elantech=1.

Edit: also try flSynclient's Calibration buttons - that will most likely fix it.

The version I installed that technosaurus posted is working fine here. Full install of fluppy11. While I got you on the phone, is there a way to update Java or should one delete the old pet when a new one is ready?

remembering my eee pc 701 experience( i still use eee, but i need new keyboard since my son took out some letters ) i'd like to set powermanagement as good as possible:)
for example add scripts to disable usb and turn it on only when needed since i use usb not very often

Yeah I played around with the Elantech driver on my 701 that has that problem, but Calibrating with flSynclient fixed it.

Making a zdrive won't boot faster AFAIK. But it will allow you to use the zdrive cutter to remove extra drivers. However the cutter cuts everything that's not in use - so that's usually not what you want.

I believe this kernel is pretty good at suspending usb automatically. I've turned all the usb powermanagement stuff on.

You can look at puppeee to see some of the extra stuff I put in the powersaving scripts there, but honestly turning down the backlight saves by far the most power. I don't know if the samsungs have FSB underclocking but that also helps a lot.

Actually unloading the kernel modules for the wireless also helps a lot more than just rfkill. Rfkill alone doesn't seem to cut power to the wireless card - at least not on the Eee.
