Puppy Online

#1 Post by Lobster »

A lot of our Puppys (Puppy users) including Barry are still having to use dial up :?

An online graphic tool such as this:
http://www.pxn8.com/

Is all part of moving resources on-line:

This does not suit everyone but it suits me. Without a web connection I feel I have very limited options.

What is your experience of this?

The summary of the last linked article gives a significant factor to consider - loss of control - such that you are dependant on someone else's system doing the right thing and being there when you need it. The other factor is the link between, which you touched on in your opening. I supposedly have broadband over wireless using an intel system, deployed also as Woosh in NZ and Sentech in Sth Africa. The major peoblem is tower congestion which results in speeds at times worst than dialup. This would produce a work enviroment less productive than one's native PC.

Very good points which are worth considering.
:)
At the moment online services are being provided (usually for free) by individuals and start ups. Services that win out are not those that serve the consumer but those which make them consume at a price.

Most people are willing to pay the price of adverts and even subscription charges.
Emily Chang interviews some of these services

I found out (for example) with gmail (I think it is using some ads), when posting large emails, and I was busy opening other tabs, gmail was crashing Mozilla. Now that I am aware of that it is something I can understand and still use gmail.

I make use of

because it is convenient for my bookmarks

From what Barry (once again) is doing with Puppy
