this seems to be a nicely polished, well made little platform game - a rarity on linux.. i included an updated binary in my pet.

EDIT::: uploaded the fixed package, menu entry now works

sc0ttman,

it won't run from the menu, needs a system link in usr/bin to doukutsu_32bits

and replace the link in cavestory directory with a script called cavestory

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
cd /usr/local/cavestory
cavestory
then it works

It works for me Z enters the game and is the jump key, I have no idea as to what the problem might be.

check out the website, there maybe an answer there http://doukutsu.livejournal.com/

The configuration file is set up for a 6 button gamepad.
I have one and it works fine with it.
I have never tried modifying the configuration file, but it is commented so you could try changing some of the settings for movement and action as well.

Has someone claimed ownership of Cave Story?
The reason I ask is that it has been released for the Wii game system and also, a YouTUbe video has been pulled because of complaints from some companies.

I believe new versions are being released commercially by Nicalis, Inc. (as Cave Story+?), but I'm not sure if they've taken over all future releases. The original freeware should still be available, as far as I'm aware, but not for platforms like the Wii.
